About me

I offer support for a range of difficulties that might be making your life feel challenging, stressful or overwhelming. I am a qualified and experienced counsellor here to help if something is bothering you.
Some of the issues I have helped clients with include anxiety, stress, depression, anger management, time management, bereavement, illness, family difficulties, relationship difficulties, generalised anxiety disorder, low self-esteem and low confidence to name a few.
My qualifications include:

  • BA Honours Degree - Humanistic Integrative Counselling
  • Diploma in Higher Education - Humanistic Gestalt Counselling
  • Level 3 - Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • Basic Counselling Skills Certificate

As well as the formal qualifications I have achieved I have also undertaken a variety of workshops and courses including additional training in:

  • Loss and Bereavement Awareness
  • Stress Management
  • Emotions
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Shame and Difference
  • Loss of a Child
  • Working Creatively
  • Working with Dreams

As well as running my own private practice, I have provided counselling in a variety of different agencies and settings. My experience is varied including offering telephone support for Rape Crisis and facilitating a support group and counselling for a charity specialising in gender identity issues. I have also counselled bereaved clients for Cruse as well as a smaller, local bereavement charity. My experience extends to counselling children in a secondary school and counselling patients at a GP surgery for a wide variety of issues.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) which means I adhere to their code of ethics. It also means that I have met the training requirements of the association and have passed a Certificate of Proficiency test which deems me to be a competent and ethical counsellor.

How I work

I am a Humanistic and Integrative counsellor which means I draw from a variety of approaches best suited to my clients. We are all unique and I believe that no one type of therapy will suit everyone. I can bring in elements of Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis (TA) which I believe helps me to tailor the counselling to your individual needs.
My aim is to understand things from your perspective and to help guide you towards your desired outcome. You might want to gain awareness and understanding of a particular issue, explore issues from the past or present that are not sitting comfortably with you, feel supported through a life event or explore the possibility of making changes to your life or your relationships.

It is not my role to offer advice, provide the answers for you or tell you what to do. My aim is to work with you in order to improve your well-being. The counselling session is your space to explore what matters to you in an environment where you can truly feel heard and supported without being judged.

What to expect

Counselling usually takes place once a week at a time that is mutually convenient to us both. Usually the session will be on the same day and time each week. However, I can offer a degree of flexibility if you find you cannot always make the same session each week.
Each session lasts for 50 minutes and is charged at £45.00.
I offer a reduced rate of £25.00 for the first session which is a chance for us to meet and for you to decide if I am the right person for you. You are under no obligation to commit to further sessions if you feel I am not what you are looking for you.
Counselling is available Monday to Friday daytime and I also have some evening appointments available.

Please feel free to contact me for a no obligation chat, ask any questions or discuss your requirements.
